What is Hypnobirthing?

Birth Positively is a complete birth preparation course, based in Folkestone,  which will provide you and your partner with evidence based, logical information. You will feel empowered to make confident choices about the birth you want (even if you're not sure what that is yet!).

We will look at all aspects of birth- from where to have your baby, to the ways you can make your labour more comfortable.

How does Hypnobirthing work?

Unfortunately, it doesn't involve someone clicking their fingers and presenting you with your baby- if only!

Hypnobirthing is completely logical and based on scientific evidence. You will learn about the physiology of birth, the hormones involved, and the impact your mind has on your body.

Hypnobirthing uses a combination of words, relaxation and breathing techniques to help you remain calm and in control. The calmer you are, the more oxytocin you will release and this hormone is essential for the whole labour process. Being calm and relaxed isn't just a nice idea, it is essential for the whole birth process to take place.

By learning how your brain works, you will be able to  change your mind-set from one of apprehension  (or even fear) to one of positivity and excitement. Once you understand the incredible way your body is designed to give birth, you will even look forward to it...honestly!

When should I attend a Hypnobirthing Course?

It is best to attend a hypnobirthing course any time from 20 weeks.  You will be provided with balanced information to enable you to make the best choices for you and your baby and feel in full control of what ever course your birth takes.

The course will also include loads of information for your birth partner, so they understand how to support you in pregnancy and throughout your labour. They need to know how to create the ideal environment and advocate for you so you can just focus on birthing your baby!

Can I use hypnobirthing in hospital?

Many of my clients have gone on to give birth in Kent hospitals such as, The William Harvey, QEQM and Pembury so it may surprise you to hear there is actually no such thing as a 'hypno-birth'.  I am not here to guarantee you a natural, pain free, water birth. But what I can do is provide you with the tools and techniques to remain calm and in control no matter what happens on the day - whether that is a waterbirth, induced labour or caesarean. Your birth will be a far more positive experience having completed this course- no matter how your baby is born.

You will be giving yourself the best chance of experiencing a calm, comfortable and positive birth.
